Exceptional, gigantic ancient stone mortar. This is a 60 cm high mortar, this is the largest Tuscan mortar I have ever found in over 40 years of research (Guido Frilli). The interior is 47 cm deep and was probably used for the crumbling of dried broad beans for animal use. The pestle consisted of an oak or chestnut trunk of at least 18/20 cm in diameter.
