More info

The spiked ray (Raja clavata Linnaeus, 1758), known commercially with the generic name of ray , is a species of cartilaginous fish belonging to the Rajidae family. The natural habitat is represented both by the open sea and by coastal waters, of Europe, of the Atlantic coast of Africa, probably up to Namibia and South Africa in a bathymetric range which varies from about 0 to 100 m. Sometimes it is also seen trapped in large natural pools that form at low tide near large estuaries.
