IHS "Iesus Hominum Salvator" of San Bernardino - the trigram of the name of Jesus.

San Bernardino
He was born in Massa Marittima in 1380, but he spent his youth in Siena. After his theological studies, he founded the company of the Disciplinati Beatae Mariae. In 1408 he entered the convent of San Francesco in Siena; in 1417 he began an intense preaching activity throughout Italy, proposing to all the adoption as an emblem of the trigram of the name of Jesus IHS surmounted by the cross and inscribed in a radiant sun: sign of the complex symbolism, often associated with the analogous sign of the name of Maria, MRA.
In 1438 he was Minister General of the Franciscan Order, and proposed to renew the Franciscan rule by promoting the theological and juridical doctrine of the friars, especially of preachers and confessors. He also dealt with social and economic issues, fighting usury.
He died in L'Aquila in 1444. He was canonized in 1450.
