It is part of the products of the "current of Naturalism", a current that had great success in Europe from the early 1800s to most of the second half of the 1800s.
Manufacture of unknown origin, almost certainly of Scottish origin.

After the rain, the coffee table maintains a 5 mm veil of water, certainly designed for watering birds. In fact, the production of birdbaths was common at that time and there are various models. This artifact therefore contains two functions, coffee table + birdbath. If painted green or even left to rust, the artifact blends into the green of the garden and ideally disappears from view.
Naturalism in the visual arts was born around 1840 in France and widened the field of artistic interest to other subjects
