More info

Villa Siemens was built in 1899 by architect Carl Sattler for Herta Harries von Siemens, daughter of the German steelworks magnate and wife of chemist Karl Dietich Harries.

The architecture of the house is inspired by Italian Renaissance villas: a double staircase leading to the entrance formed by three arches, a mezzanine floor under which service rooms are obtained, the two side wings and the central recessed body.

The decoration of the dining room is made by Adolf von Hildebrandt, a successful painter and sculptor who lives a little further on, in front of the Bagno Royal, in the house that was later purchased by Curzio Malaparte.

At the outbreak of the First World War all the assets of the Austro-Hungarian citizens were requisitioned and the Siemens will no longer be able to get hold of their villa.
