More info

Vittorio Matteo Corcos (Livorno, 4 October 1859 - Florence, 8 November 1933) was an Italian painter, known in particular for his realistic portraits. The painter used to paint "ladies of the time" sitting in the garden on the benches.
Famous the painting "Dreams of 1896" visible at the Modern Art Gallery of Rome.
Another beautiful by Cristiano Banti (1824-1904) portrays his wife Alaide in the garden, see photo.
But also Giovanni Boldini and Claude Monet did paintings with these subjects, see photo.

The bench we have acquired has the wooden part too degraded to be used, see photo in its original state.
The legs, in cast iron casting, are obviously perfect, the wooden slats have been replaced and are intentionally left in wood color in imitation of the specimen depicting Vittorio Corcos in 1885.
The painting by V. Corcos "Woman with Dog" is from 1885, cm 142.5x58.4.

Villa Siemens was built in 1899 by architect Carl Sattler for Herta Harries von Siemens, daughter of the German steelworks magnate and wife of chemist Karl Dietich Harries.

The architecture of the house is inspired by Italian Renaissance villas: a double staircase leading to the entrance formed by three arches, a mezzanine floor under which service rooms are obtained, the two side wings and the central recessed body.
The decoration of the dining room is made by Adolf von Hildebrandt, a successful painter and sculptor who lives a little further on, in front of the Bagno Royal, in the house that was later purchased by Curzio Malaparte.
At the outbreak of the First World War all the assets of the Austro-Hungarian citizens were requisitioned and the Siemens will no longer be able to get hold of their villa.
