Originating from the East Pediment of the Parthenon, this sculpture dates from 447-432 BC and represents one of the horses from the Chariot of Selene, the goddess of the moon. Its appearance of exhaustion - drooping jaw and flaring nostrils - express its utter weariness after the nights work.
