The Ephesians began to coin silver coins, coins showing the bee on the straight and a punched square on the back, divided into four parts, the so-called square included.
There is rarely, instead of the beak, an eagle's head and epsilon and phi letters, which form the beginning of the name of the city. The nominals are small, in any case not higher than the drachma. The used monetary foot is the foothace, with a stem of 7.5 grams divided into 2 drachmas.
